Tipda respects your privacy. This policy explains what we collect, why, who sees it, and the choices you have. It applies to the Tipda Android app and tipda.in. By using Tipda you agree to this policy.
Who is responsible: This policy is issued by One Information, the proprietorship firm (Udyam Registration No. UDYAM-UK-05-0148312, Dehradun, Uttarakhand) that owns and operates Tipda.in and the Tipda app. One Information is the data controller (“data fiduciary”) for the personal data described here, and “Tipda”, “we” and “us” in this policy mean One Information. Address on the Contact page. Contact: tipda.in@gmail.com.
1. What we collect
What you give us
- Account: email address, password (stored only in hashed form by our authentication provider), or your Google account email if you use Google Sign-In; your primary mobile number and, if you add one, a secondary mobile number.
- Profile and bio-data: name, gender, date, time and place of birth (registered Members choose the place from a list of towns and villages; its approximate coordinates are then shown on your bio-data unless you untick that option), current city or, for Members living abroad, the country/state chosen from a list, height, education, occupation, family details, community, gotra, rashi, nakshatra, mool gaon, lifestyle, partner preferences, about-me text, WhatsApp number, preferred time to call.
- Physical and health details (optional, sensitive): complexion, body type, blood group and physical disability status, with a written description if you choose to give one. You decide whether to fill these in; leave them blank if you prefer. We use them only to show on your profile and bio-data, never for advertising or analysis.
- Photos you upload for your profile.
- Documents you attach to your own bio-data PDF (for example a photo of your Tipda, Teep or Janampatri): these stay on your phone only. We do not upload, receive, store or review them.
- Kundli Milan details: when a match includes you (“match with me”, or “Match our Kundli” with a Member you have unlocked), the names, dates, times and places of birth and the result are kept in your own match history — on your phone and in your account (the app shows your last three) — and you can delete each one. When you match two other people, their details are used only to compute the result and are not stored; we keep only a count, for the daily limit. When you match with an unlocked Member, their birth details are read from their profile on our server and are not shown to you beyond what the unlock already includes.
- Messages to us: support emails, reports and complaints.
What the app records while you use it
- Actions: interests sent, shortlists, blocks, contact unlocks (and their dates); reports you make, including any reason you give when withdrawing one, our team’s decision on them, and a running count of your reports (total, found unfounded, withdrawn) used to detect misuse of reporting.
- Review history: approval, rejection or hold decisions on your profile, and any reason given.
- A device token so we can send you notifications, and your language choice.
- Crash and diagnostic information (device model, Android version, app version, error traces).
- Basic security logs, such as failed login attempts and how many login codes were requested from a device or network, to prevent misuse.
On our website (not the app) we collect anonymous visit statistics through Google Analytics, as described in section 4.
What we do not collect: your precise location, contacts, SMS, call logs, or your card/UPI details. Google Play handles payments; we only learn that a payment succeeded.
The app may ask permission for notifications and for access to your photos or camera when you choose to add a picture. You can refuse; those features will then not work.
2. Why we use your data
- To create and show your profile, and to suggest matches.
- To review profiles and keep the community safe: automated text checks, manual review of text and photos, verifying contact numbers, handling reports and blocks.
- To contact you on your mobile or WhatsApp numbers to verify them. When a number is shared with another Member’s account (a family number), we may ask the person who answers whether they know that Member by name. Our executives will never ask for passwords, OTPs, banking or other sensitive details (see our Terms).
- To send login codes, security alerts and notifications about interests, approvals and admin messages.
- To process contact unlocks and show you what you have unlocked.
- To compute a Kundli Milan result when you ask for one, and to keep your own match history.
- To prevent fraud, spam and abuse, to fix bugs and to improve the app.
- To meet legal obligations and respond to lawful requests.
3. Who can see your information
| Information | Who sees it |
|---|---|
| Photos, Tipda ID (TPD#…), age, height, education, work, community, about, family summary, basic astrology and lifestyle | Other registered Members, only after your profile is approved and while it is published |
| Full name, mool gaon, gotra, rashi, birth details (including the birth place’s coordinates if you choose to show them on your bio-data), complexion, body type, blood group and disability details, verified email, verified primary mobile number, secondary mobile and WhatsApp number (only if you provide them and they are verified), best time to call | Only Members who have paid for the Contact Unlock of your profile, and for the unlock period only. Unverified numbers are never shown. If you make your profile private, these Members keep the name, email, verified numbers, mool gaon, patti, gotra, rashi and birth details until their unlock expires; your photos and the free details are hidden from them. Deleting your account removes everything. |
| Everything in your account, including your sign-in details | You, and Tipda’s admin/review team (for moderation and support) |
You can hide your profile at any time with the visibility switch. Blocked and reported Members cannot interact with you. We never sell your data or share it for advertising.
4. Service providers we use
We use trusted providers who process data for us under their own security and privacy terms:
- Supabase – database, authentication and server functions.
- Cloudflare – storage of photos and encrypted backups, and website hosting.
- Resend – sending login and verification emails.
- Google – Google Sign-In, Firebase Cloud Messaging (notifications), Firebase Crashlytics (crash reports) and Google Play (payments and app distribution).
- Google Analytics (website only) – on the tipda.in website we use Google Analytics to count visits and see approximate location (country and city), the pages viewed and the device type. It sets cookies in your browser, does not use Google signals or advertising personalisation, and does not receive your name, contact details or anything you enter in the Tipda app. You can block it with your browser’s cookie settings or Google’s opt-out add-on; the website works the same without it. The Android app does not use Google Analytics.
- Geocoding services (Open-Meteo, OpenStreetMap Nominatim, Photon by komoot) – when you type a place of birth (for place suggestions) or use Kundli Milan, only the place text (for example “Pauri, Uttarakhand”) is sent to one of these services to find approximate coordinates and time zone. No name, date, account or device information is sent with it, and results are cached on our server so each place is looked up once.
Some of these providers may store or process data on servers outside India. We may also disclose information if the law requires it, if ordered by a court or authority, or to protect the rights and safety of Members, the public or Tipda.
5. How long we keep data
- Your profile, bio-data and photos are kept while your account is active.
- When your deletion request is approved, your profile, bio-data, photos and login are permanently deleted within 30 days.
- Our encrypted backups are kept on a weekly cycle, so deleted data can remain in them for up to about 90 days, after which it is overwritten.
- We keep limited records for up to 1 year after deletion where needed for safety and legal reasons: payment/unlock records, reports and blocks, and the fact that an account was removed. We keep them longer only if the law requires, or for an ongoing dispute or investigation.
- Security and error logs are kept for a short period (generally under 90 days).
- A phone number that failed verification, or that we believe is being misused, is kept on a refusal list together with the accounts that used it, for as long as the service runs, to prevent the same misuse again. It is not shown to any Member.
6. Your rights and choices
- Access and correct: view and edit your details in the app. Edits are reviewed before they go public. Your Contact Details are the email and primary mobile number you registered with, plus an optional secondary mobile and WhatsApp number. You can change the secondary and WhatsApp numbers (and the primary until it is verified) from Settings (☰) → Account → Edit Contact Details in the app, at most twice in 30 days each; a new number is verified again by our team before it is shown to anyone, and you can always revert to the last verified one. A verified primary number is locked; from the same screen you can ask us for a change (once per 30 days; you can cancel the request at any time). Your sign-in email is fixed once registered, and you can also sign in with your verified primary mobile number. See the Terms.
- Hide: turn your profile off at any time.
- Delete: request deletion in the app or by email — see Delete Account.
- Withdraw consent: you can stop using Tipda and delete your account. Notifications can be switched off in your phone settings.
- Questions or complaints: email tipda.in@gmail.com — we acknowledge within 24 hours and aim to resolve within 15 days. We may ask you to prove your identity first.
You may have rights under the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 and other applicable law, including to know what data we hold, to correct or erase it, and to nominate someone to act for you.
7. Security
We use encrypted connections (HTTPS), access controls on the database, short-lived signed links for photos, encrypted backups, and automated limits against abuse. No system is perfectly secure; please also protect your own device and password, and share personal details only with people you trust.
7A. Using Tipda on the website
You can also register, log in and browse matches at tipda.in. The website uses the same account, the same data and the same moderation as the Android app. Your sign-in session is kept in your browser’s local storage on your device until you log out. The website does not use advertising cookies. Contact numbers can only be unlocked in the app.
7B. Verifying your number on WhatsApp
If you choose “Verify me using this WhatsApp number” when you register, Tipda opens WhatsApp with a short message already written (your name, your Tipda ID and whether you registered on the app or the website). You decide whether to press Send. If you send it, Tipda receives that message and the WhatsApp number it came from, and uses them only to confirm that the number is yours. It is handled by WhatsApp as any other message; we never ask for your OTP, password or money on WhatsApp.
8. Children
Tipda is for adults of legal marriageable age. We do not knowingly accept profiles of anyone below that age and will remove such profiles when found. Parents or guardians may create a profile only for an eligible family member.
9. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy. The latest version is always on this page with its date. Every registered Member is told of a change in the app — a notice on the Profile and Discover screens with a summary and a link, plus a notification — and the notice stays until you acknowledge it.
